Flashback | Women’s Melanesian Cup 2017

SUVA (Fiji) - The women from Papua New Guinea won gold at the inaugural FIBA Women’s Melanesian Cup in 2017 going through the entire tournament undefeated.

Fiji finished the tournament with silver while the ladies from New Caledonia took home bronze.

Marca Muri and Betty Angular from Papua New Guinea led all-star five selection with Letava Whippy (FIJ), Yolande Luepak (NCL) and Joycelyn Basia (SOL) also earning selection in the best of the tournament.

Hosted by Papua New Guinea in 2017, the 2022 edition of the Melanesian Cup will be hosted by Fiji in Suva, with the local women eager to go one better than their previous finish.
